About Me
I live in the mountains of northern Colorado with my husband, George (aka Topper), and standard poodle, Rogue du Rocher.
My obsession with quirky characters and the oral tradition of storytelling predates my passion for writing books. When I was a child growing up on the family homestead in South Dakota, my father entertained us with tales of the doughty pioneers who settled on the western Dakota plains in the early 1900s. Although those settlers were ordinary people, they performed heroic deeds, or as O.E. Rolvaag might say, they were truly “Giants in the Earth.”
The descendants of those giants still populate the west and heartland of America, striving to carry on the legacy left by their forebears. My stories draw inspiration from those tenacious and resilient people. And as far as my passion for a good tale goes, well, I have my father, a master storyteller, to thank for that.
My first novel, Perseverance, is about a female cop from California who winds up in the hinterlands of Wyoming. It was inspired by my niece, who is a police officer in North Dakota.
My second novel, Finding Oddsson, is due to be released in 2026. It’s the story of a well-known professor who travels to North Dakota to write a book about his famous great-grandfather—only to discover a tragic family secret.
